Inside the set

The 20 mats cover every quantity from 1 through 20. Scenes include Three Apples, Five Carrots, Ten Plums, Twelve Strawberries, Sixteen Bread Rolls, Eighteen Blueberries and Twenty Peas. Printed trays and supporting details stay on the page while children make the food pieces.

Play and replay

Choose a quantity and follow the five picture steps to roll or shape the dough. Count each piece as it fills an empty guide. An adult can read a matching card, such as making three red apples or combining two red apples with one green apple. Clear the mat and change the colors, choose another card or prepare a different market display. Start with whichever quantity suits your play session.

Print and prepare

You will need a printer, paper, playdough and scissors for adult use. Print on US Letter paper at 100% or Actual Size with automatic orientation: mats are landscape; the cover, guide and card pages are portrait. Protect mats with sleeves or lamination before adding dough. An adult prepares the cards, reads prompts and supervises play.
